Anyhoo, I bought some stuff over the weekend that I'd like to show off here.

Hey hey chibi fans!

Am feelin' a wee bit chipper today coz my first (LONG OVERDUE) paycheck came in yesterday. Wooohooo! Goodbye poor, struggling undergraduate life, hello stable steady income! However at the same time, I remind myself to never forget the dark, dark times (and boy, were they ever dark...) where I was seriously stuck at the bottom of the proverbial wheel of life.

Anyhoo, enough of personal ramblings, let's get to the comics stuff! Introducing, the first appearance of Chibi Lex Luthor! Ooooh... can you feel the evil emanating from his cute, round, sharply dressed being? Luthor's gonna be featured rather prominently the first part of this chapter so prepare to cower in the Luthor-ness!

About that Indiana Jones movie review I mentioned in the last entry, suffice to say I give it :

Four packets o' popcorn!

And as usual, a good movie warrants a chibi!

Hiya guys...

Another late update... There's gonna be lots of those coming up so I apologize in advance...

Been a busy busy week for me. My parents opened a lil food business thingie so I've been helping design the signs and stuff, which took up a fair bit of my time.

The biggest news of the week is that my final results came out. I am graduating with a Bachelor of Arts with Second Upper Class honours. Yeah, it came as a big shock to me too. I never dared dream of such results so Alhamdulillah. All praises be to Him for looking out for me.

I wanted to do an Indy Jones movie review but I'm just kinda tired now so I'll save it for next time.

Hi guys...

It's the second Sunday of May so I wanna say "Happy Mothers' Day"!!! :D

Here's wishing all the wonderful mothers out there (especially mine!) a happy day ahead with the family and loved ones.

This week's cover is a homage to the cover of Batman : The Killing Joke. I decided to deviate from the original (click on the image to see a side by side comparison with the original cover) because closeups don't really work with my dear beloved chibis. :P

Oh yeah, as another tip of the hat to the bubu, that's her Diana + lomography camera that the Joker's using. I sure hope he returns it, luv! :P

Heyhey!

This week, we have my take on the cover of Action Comics #1! You can click on the above image to see a side by side comparison of my take on the cover with the original.

This week's cover features a cameo by me (just because I can... :D) and a super special guest appearace by the oft appearing in the comments section, bubu! That's her lime green volkswagen that chibi Supes has over his head! :P Does anyone else ever wonder why Superman looks like a villain on the cover of his origin comic? He looks like he's on a rampage! -_-'

Anyhoo, have you guys watched Iron Man yet? It's good! I loved the armour and the effects were superbly top notch! Robert Downey Jr. played Tony Stark brilliantly and I loved how they inserted lil geektastic moments in the film (like the formation of S.H.I.E.L.D.) which made me grin in the darkness of the theatre. :D For those of you who have yet to watch it, stay till the end of the credits for an awesome teaser scene!

Hälsningar vänner!

(It's supposed to be "Greetings, friends!" in Swedish. I really hope I got that right...)

Why the attempt at a Swedish greeting? Well the nice people at sfbokhandelnmalmo were kind enough to link me up and say nice things about my comics so it was the least I could do (plus the fact that the bulk of my visitors for the past week came from that link).

Here's what they had to say :

Hey hey...

A relatively early update this week as I'm allowed a little bit of a breather (with the assignments being done and all).

Anyways, ouch. That punch to the face really looks painful. Batman rawks. The original line from the dialogue was actually "Shut the @#$% up" but I decided against it coz I don't think the dark knight would be that much of a potty mouth. Furthermore, *points to Frank Miller's depiction of Batman in the current All Star Batman and Robin*, I am one of the legions of people who HATE that portrayal of Batman.

Hello fellow Earthlings!

Yes, I'm back. Sorry there was no comic last week. I had a Phantom Zone Projector mishap and spent the last week trying to escape the 'Zone while fending off General Zod's attacking minions.

...

Well that's not entirely true, but it sure dang well felt like it. This past week has been quite bad (read : busy) for me as the snowballing deadlines of my assignments finally resulted in an avalanche (I have FOUR due TOMORROW!!!). But thank goodness I managed to (just barely) survive. As I am typing this, I still have the final two hanging over my head. -_-'

So yeah, howzabout that Supey huh? Ain't he just so dreamy in the first panel? :P I went with the Chris Reeve haircut and I think it turned out pretty spiffy, if I do say so myself. :D

A bit of sad news I'd like to share, the comic book shop that I patron is closing down. It's quite sad really coz the owner, Colin, is a decent guy. Not like some ABSOLUTE-ly appalling owners of some other comic book stores. He even got me Kurt Busiek's autograph on my Superman annual when the dude was in town last month. So Colin dude, I wish you all the best for the future.

On the same note, he's having an 'everything-must-go' typa sale going on so I bought some action figures that I've been eye-ing for a VERY long time now. Colin gave me a very good price for them (thanks dude!) so I'm very happy with my purchase. I'm a HUGE fan of Ed Mcguinness and I've been collecting figures that are based on his art. Have a looksee...

WOOOHOOOOO!!! The League is now complete. I bought Supes, Bats and Wonder Woman quite some time ago. The rest I've been lusting over for some months now. But now I have 'em all! Here's a shot of them with Luthor and Joker...

Hiya guys...

Life's been kinda hectic since I started my 8 week job attachment, making my online (and pretty much all of my other) activities rather restricted. The webcomic has kinda taken a bit of a backseat to the rest of my life but no worries though, I'm not gonna stop doing it, methinks. :)

With reference to that, I'm gonna change the update day again, this time to Sunday. Friday seemed a good day to me at first but now I feel Sunday's a much better time. Yepyep.

Some bit of sad news : I'm gonna be stopping the weekly contest thing for the time being, at least till I've finished my job attachment and I'm settled down. In the mean time, I'll be completing the four outstanding requests (two this week and two next week) and I'll add random cards when I have the time (at least one per week, I hope).

Before I announce this week's winners, I just wanna blog about the coolbeans birthday I had two weeks ago. I meant to blog about it in last week's entry but I just couldn't find the time.

Things kicked off with the family treating me and my bro, who's also a February birthday boy, to a scrumptious all-you-can-eat birthday buffet at the reputable Sakura restaurant. We had a smorgasbord of food : pizza, pasta, sushi, ice cream; just to name a smidgen of the gastronomic delights that were available.

The festivities continued the next day when my dearest missus threw me an awesome birthday picnic.

She baked me a cake. Wanna see it?

:D :D :D

That has got to be the COOLEST cake I've EVER received in my life!!! :D

The missus has, on various occasion, told me how difficult it is to work with fondant. So, to have her sculpt the emblem of the House of El so accurately(!), she earns ten million geek points, easy!! :D

And just when I thought it couldn't get better than that, it did!

Coz she got me :

I've been eye-ing them for a while now so it was a very nice surprise to get them for my birthday! Thank you, dearest luv for the wonderful birthday picnic and the awesome presents! :D

My apologies for the slight delay in updating this week. I've been swamped with school work this past week so the chibi-ing kinda got put off for a bit. But no worries, I still managed to get a spanking new comic up so yayness all around, ya? :P

I've made Dhalsim into an animated card, something that I will do once in a while, just to mix things up a bit. I like how the floating thing turned out, if I do say so myself.

Crash Bandicoot was quite challenging for me as I am not familiar with the character. My online research yielded a phletora of different looks for the character (it seems to vary with every passing sequel of its game). Oh well, I hope I managed to at least capture the essence of the character.

Oh yes, I almost forgot. I reworked two of the previous cards (the Green Lantern and the Red Hood one) coz I thought they could use improvement. I tweaked GL's costume and gave him his emerald power battery. For the Red Hood, I gave him his keris.

Here Ye!

I am running a lil contest on this here webcomic to improve on the 'non-commenting' nature of the readership. Hurhur... I notice that there's a sizable number of people who drop by this comic everyday (muchos gracias, by the way!) but very few people comment or give their thoughts. Well can't say I blame ya, coz I do a fair bit of the 'reading and not commenting' bit on other webcomics too! So, hopefully, starting from next week it will all chaaaaaange with what I'm planning to do.....

Here's how it's gonna work.

Every week, everyone who comments will get a chance to see his / her character of choice chibi-fied in the Inkblot style. Yep, simple as that. Just say hi or a few words about the comic and list the character you would like to see chibi-fied at the end of your post.

Note : The character MUST be one from popular culture (comics, movies, video games, etc.) Please don't send me a photo of yourself and request a chibi version. -_-'

On Friday I will go through the list and pick two random comments and chibi-fy the character of their choice, which I will post the following Monday.

Salutations Chibi-fans!

Isn't that Bizzaro so darn cute? I've decided to make him not do that backwards speaking thing that he's supposed to do (this is me explaining in an attempt to pre-empt potential flak from purist fanboys... :P). Personally, I found that way of talking rather confusing (and lots of times it detracted from my understanding and enjoyment of the story coz I didn't understand what he was saying... -_-').

Thus, my version of Bizzaro has the personality and mentality of a small child. I'm rather partial to this interpretation as I've always seen Bizzaro as a victim of circumstance rather than an outright supervillain; and as you will see as the story progresses, this interpretation will be a key point in both the development of the plot and the character.

Anyhoo, the (most possibly) final semester of my academic life will begin tomorrow! Woohoo! Can't wait to graduate, I tells ya.

I had to do this unprecedented update just to pimp bro Naguib's ambigram blog (go see the comments section for the reason). For those of you familiar with Dan Brown's Angels & Demons (which is where I first learnt about ambigrams) you know that an ambigram is a nifty way of designing the typography of a word so that it is readable both right side up and upside down. I'll show you an example.

Whoa, it's already the last day of 2007! Soon enough 2008 will be upon us and yet another exciting year will begin. 2008 will be an eventful year for me as I'll finally be graduating university! WOOHOOOO!!!
